From "Airs Above the Ground"
The warmth of their first morning together would stay with her, always. He’d had every reason in the world to leave her—interviews, a brunch— and yet he stayed. The ice bucket, the tartan bedspread, the dog-eared bible in the drawer, every object provided them with something to joke about. An excuse to get to know each other, to sink down into love.
