This is cut from an essay I'm working on for Fanzine:
When I was five months pregnant, I went on a
road trip through northeast Mexico with my husband and became obsessed with the
Spanish road signs that we passed. I copied them down in a journal with a plan
to turn them into bookmarks with these abstract, Spanish phrases stenciled on.
I have, so far, made one. What it says is that my body map is evolving. That
there isn’t a specific destination, just this great and frightening journey with
no room for a time out. What it says is, “Termina
acotamiento.” Shoulder ends.
