U-Stall

One would think, in the vast and eclectic bushland of Brooklyn that a company as substantial as U-Haul would have reliable outposts and cognizant creatures toiling for them, merrily. But one would be wrong. Beaver and Domo reserved their U-Haul for 6 am on Saturday morning. The night before their move from New York to Massachusetts, they were informed that their truck would not be available until 6 pm, and that they would have to fetch said vehicle at the other end of the island of Manhattan, which, on a Friday evening during rush hour, might as well have been the other side of the world.

The porcupine from whom they rented the U-Stall was manning, a la fois, a deli, a gas station, a lotto center, a truck rental outpost and some kind of mysterious storage center from a stairwell in his basement. Multi-tasking has its merits, but not during a move.
